Lovers of lightsabers, Wookiees, Ewoks and the rest of the Star Wars universe will come together on Friday, Dec. 9, at Science Museum Oklahoma for the museum’s Star Wars Science Overnight — just in time for the release of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Developed by SMO’s science educators, the program explores the science of Star Wars and how our galaxy compares to one that’s far, far away.
Children across the Oklahoma City metro can get hands-on with icy cold and culinary sciences, tinker with technology, explore the science of outer space and more during Science Museum Oklahoma’s “Weird Winter Wonders” and “Saturday Science” Winter Break Camps set for December.
Science Museum Oklahoma’s board of trustees has named museum Vice President of Programs and Outreach Sherry Marshall as its incoming president and CEO. Marshall, a native Oklahoman with more than 20 years of experience in museums and science education, will assume the role effective Dec. 1.
Science Museum Oklahoma will host a Science Overnight inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter on Friday, Nov. 11. Developed by SMO’s science educators, the program will explore the science of Harry Potter just in time for the opening of the Potter-inspired film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”
Science Museum Oklahoma will offer discounted admission for retired and active duty military on Sunday, Nov. 6, as part of the museum’s Military Family Day. Those who present a valid military ID will receive a free child admission with the purchase of an adult admission at the museum located at 2020 Remington Place in Oklahoma City.
Beginning Nov. 5, visitors to Science Museum Oklahoma’s smART Space galleries will be able to tour many of the state’s unusual, intriguing and lesser-known areas through “Off the Beaten Path,” a photo-documented joint art exhibit by Scott and Katie Henderson.
